Mommy and Daddy News

Our blog clearly focuses on the boys and our activities as a family, but today I thought I would post some fun news about what Andy and I are doing.

A friend of ours recently asked us to write an article based on the Facebook postings she had seen of us cooking with the boys for our local Evansville Living magazine. It was published last week and our family cooking adventures got a whole page! We are not expects by any means and I know many families who do meals and cooking very similarly to the way we do, but it's fun to be able to write an article about it and to know that boys will have this to look back on. So here's a link to our article, titled, "Raising Future Foodies".

I also started spring off with a new job. I resigned from Vectren, where I have enjoyed working for the past 8+ years in early March and started at Keller Schroeder this week. Keller is the IT consulting firm that I worked at prior to being at Vectren. My new position involves project management, web development, and possibly some mentoring. I really enjoyed my first week and I'm looking forward to getting my first project.

Andy has decided to pursue his Auctioneers license, so in May he will be taking some training and then working on passing the test to get his official license. He is pretty excited and has started listening to chatter in order to perfect the lingo. I just hope he doesn't start talking really fast :)

Andy and I will be traveling to Idaho next month for a close friend's wedding. I've never seen the Rockie Mountains so I'm excited and we will be treating this as a mini vacation for the two of us.

We are staying busy and loving life from all aspects this Spring!!

Adam -- Update

I wanted to give a little update on Adam since he just turned three! Adam is a joy! He wakes up with a smile on his face and goes to bed the same way (after getting up about 10 times to "use the potty")! Adam has the biggest imagination and loves to role play! Right now his favorites are being a cowboy, Yoda, and a pirate. He has a box of dress up clothes and hats that he plays with daily. He also loves everything Star Wars right now, including the movies, which he admits are a little bit scary.

Adam is 100% potty trained and no longer needs diapers at night either. He is no longer sitting in his booster and has graduated to regular silverware. He is eating great and has really increased the variety of items he will eat in the last month. We were initially worried about Adam's speech development, but no longer. He is talking great! Adam also loves to sing! He sings a soundtrack for everything he does. He loves for Mom and Dad to make up songs at bedtime, right now his favorite is "Watch out for the Wookie!" or the "Adam Song".

Adam is also a flirt and loves to be around other kids! He flirts with women of all ages and is not subtle about it. Adam has a very kind heart and he loves his brother. He will frequently come up to me at home and ask, "Where's my Lucas?" when he can't find him. The boys are communicating well, and having a great time being the best of friends and brothers!

So my baby is no longer a baby! He is a preschooler well on his way to being a little boy. We are so blessed to have this little boy in our lives everyday!

Adam's Birthday Party

We celebrated Adam's 3rd birthday on Saturday with a Lego Star Wars themed party. He loved the Darth Vader plates, napkins, and cups, but his favorite decoration was the life size Yoda wall cling. Adam did a great job opening his gifts and thanking everyone! He even tried to give the first gift to Abi to open, it was so sweet! We played pin the light saber on Yoda, which was fun considering there were only 4 guests at the party under the age of 12 and one of those can't even walk yet. Everyone enjoyed Adam's favorite meal, corn dogs and macaroni and cheese and then we followed that up with a delicious strawberry cake with homemade chocolate ice cream.

Adam made everyone take turns being Darth Vader and he defeated us all in light saber battles. He had a great time and Lucas loved helping with Adam's party. I add a slide show of the birthday pictures over on the left. It's hard to believe that in just a few days our baby boy is going to be 3!
