What a weekend!

We celebrated Andy's birthday this weekend. On Friday the boys and I threw Daddy a secret surprise birthday party. Lucas talked to Andy about it all week and then would say, "It's a secret surprise, Daddy, so don't tell me. Ok, Daddy? Got it?" It was too cute. We had party hats, balloons, streamers, cake and presents. Lucas even hid and jumped out and said, "Surprise, Daddy!" Adam enjoyed playing in Daddy's new canning pot and Lucas opened every gift before Daddy could get to them.

On Saturday we headed to St. Louis with Carrie and Brandon to celebrate Andy's birthday and Carrie's Master's degree at Niche. We got all dressed up and dinner was fantastic as always. Andy ordered bone marrow for his first course and it was served still in the bone (see picture), he loved it! Carrie Elizabeth's dessert was a special moment. Brandon proposed with her dessert :) The ring was on the chocolate shavings behind the ?. Carrie cried and said "Yes, now put it on my finger" The whole restaurant applauded and it was very memorable. The ring was gorgeous and with diamonds and chocolate what more could a girl want!

We then went next door to the bar Taste to celebrate and wind down from all the excitement. The bartender here is a mixologist and made some fantastic drinks. He looked kinda like a scientist with his measuring cup and bottles of endless types of bitters. He even put a raw egg in my cocktail. It was such a great night spent celebrating and one we won't ever forget. Happy Birthday Andy and congrats to Carrie & Brandon!

Happy Father's Day!!

We had a very nice Father's Day weekend. Andy went to the farm on Friday and Saturday, which was my present to him. The boys and I had a nice time at home. They even played well together in this laundry basket.On Saturday, we celebrated with Papaw Jim, but not exactly the way we had planned. We visited him in the hospital, instead of at the swimming pool. My dad was admitted with some very large kidney stones. He's going to be fine, but my have a painful few days/weeks until he passes the stones. We are praying for him that he has a little pain as possible. Amber and Nathan came over Saturday evening and the boys got to spend some time with their god father this weekend as well.

On Sunday, Andy returned home to a house decorated for a party, because everyone knows in the eyes of a 2 year old it isn't Father's Day with out balloons, streamers, party hats, and a cake. The boys and I created the party hats with our first attempt at finger painting. The boys kept looking at me like, "Are you sure you want us to be this messy?" I substituted the cake for apple pie much to Lucas's dismay. Lucas really enjoyed giving Andy's his gifts (DVD from Lucas, shirt and tie from Adam), while Adam kept showing Daddy the balloons.

For supper, we headed to the Rudolph's for dinner and pie. Paps and Daddy wore their party hats and the boys tried, but they didn't quite fit. Lucas blew out the candle and Adam loved the pie. We feel very blessed to have such great fathers, grandfathers, and god fathers in our lives.

Good Weekend

We had a great weekend! We got the boys' pool out and swam several times in order to cope with the excessive heat. Then on Sunday evening we got together with Carolyn, Karl, Cheryl, Jamie, Justin, and Alayna for dinner and snacks at the Rudolph house. The was the first time the 4 girls had been together in several years. It was great catching up and getting to see everyone. The kids had a great time in the pool, even though I hadn't intended on the boys swimming that late, so I just let him get in with their clothes on :)

Adam Stories from Camping

So we have some cute stories of Adam's first memorable camping trip that I would like to share.

Adam's food of choice for the weekend was cheese balls. No matter where we hid them or who was eating them he would seek them out and whine and jump up and down until you gave him one. It became a running joke to see him covered in orange.

Adam loved the slide and would yell "Wee" all the way down and then clap for himself at the end. He did the straight slide and the twisty slide many, many times.

Adam is a water bug and loved playing with the balloons, faucet, and even the ice cold bath the first night we were there. (The water heater wasn't working at first in the camper)

One morning Adam woke up at 5:30 so I brought him to bed with Andy and I and got him to go back to sleep. I was awakened about one hour later to him zerberting (blowing bubbles) on my elbow and cackling. It was too cute.

Stories from Camping

My previous post was a quick brain dump of everything we did. I have posted a slide show of our pictures from the weekend and I thought I would share a few of our favorite Lucas quotes from the weekend.

"I'm being a good slider and a good guy", in response to Mommy and Daddy's lectures about good manners on the playground. He told us how good he was being everytime he went down and started lecturing others on how to have good manners, too.

"Mommy, that tree is broken, we need to help it" when we found some toppled trees on our hike in the woods.

We had to lay down with Lucas at night in order to get him to sleep. At one point Andy opened his eyes to find Lucas inches away from his face looking at him with his finger almost touching Andy's eye. When ask what he was doing Lucas replied, "I'm not poking you."
