Horse Races
On Saturday we got together with the extended family and took a trip to the horse Races at Ellis Park. We had a great time and I think Lucas really likes the horses. Every time they went by he was in a total trance.

Vanderburgh County Fair
Well, we made our traditional trip to the Vanderburgh County Fair this week. The weather was beautiful. Congrats to the BB Girls on their sewing projects. 1 champion, 2 reserves and a blue. Lucas was the subject of one of Sara's photography projects. It got a Reserve as well. After checking out the projects, we went to the Banquet Hall and fed Lucas. Apparently, he thought Daddy was talking to him on the phone.

After we got Lucas's belly full, we thought this might be a good timeto introduce him to Mommy's favorite animal. So we introduced him to one of the Will Dairy Farms cows. Congrats to the Will girls on Grand Champion for their cows. The cow and Lucas stared at each other at first.
Then the cow didn't seem to mind Lucas rubbing her with his feet.
Then of course you can't leave the fair without getting some ice cream from the Young Dairymen's Booth. Unfortunately, Lucas got a hold of Mommy's milkshake and loved it :) Lucas' first trip to the fair was enjoyable and I can only hope that as he gets older he will enjoy it as much as I did as a kid.

St. Wendel Bierstube

Well Andy's favorite week of the year has come and gone. This year Andy was co-chair of the St. Wendel Bierstube. He helped setup every night last week and then worked the 'stube Thursday, Friday, & Saturday. On Sunday he helped clean up. One of Andy's favorite parts of the night is when Fritz Martin leads the crowd in teh Schnitzelbank. Here's a photo of Fritz and Andy from Saturday night. The bierstube was a success this year and a good time was had by all. Athough we are very glad that Andy has such a good time helping out with this event. Me and Lucas are glad it's all over and we can have Andy at home with us :)

6 months old

Lucas is 6 months old. My how time flies. He weighs 17 lbs 6 oz and is 25.25 inches tall. That puts him in the 50% for weight and the 20% for height. He is now sitting up on his own for the most part. On occasion he gets excited or leans too far back and topples over. Lucas has been a giggle box this week. He finds everything to be funny. His personality and curiosity are increasing each day. He checks everything out by putting it in his mouth and he gives you these looks like he is completely in sync with what's going on or being said. He is beginning to self-entertain as well, which in nice for us so we can get a few things done :)

New Job
Well, today was my last day on the eBusiness team. Monday I will officially be the Manager of CRM Support Systems. I will have 15 people on my team. I'm very excited and nervous about my new challenge.
My old team which is the one Nathan works on, is looking for a replacement. I told them to wait a few months and Lucas may be ready. Aunt Dena got him his first laptop this weekend and he is already mastering using the mouse.

Bath Time

Well we've graduated from the pack'n'play next to Mommy and Daddy's room to the big baby bed upstairs and so far so good. He's slept up there all night the last two nights and except for a bottle in the middle of the night slept up there the whole time.

Lucas really likes bath time. He's gotten so big and sits up really well now. We don't even have to hold him up all the time in there and he doesn't lean over on the sides.

And finally... Mommy is too proud to bring this up herself but she got a big promotion recently as well. She's accepted a position as a manager. Its a nice step-up but it means a lot of new responsibilities. I'm very proud of her. (and so is Lucas)
Congrats Carrie.

4th Of July Weekend
We went camping this weekend at New Harmonie State Park. We were joined by the Blankenbergers, Koesters and Wills (Zach, Sarah, & Landon). The weather was beautiful for most of our trip. Lucas had a great time and was a happy little camper. He had plenty of friends to play with and he got to take a lot of walks in the stroller. Lucas loved just watching the kids play and blow bubbles. He really enjoys being outside, as long as its not too hot.

Growing up so fast!!

This week Lucas seems to have really grown up. He has started rolling from his back to his belly and does so frequently to get to something out of his reach. That said he has started really reaching for things and communicating to us which toys he wants to play with. He also gets mad at us if we don't cooperate with his wish.
He is now sleeping in his pack n play exclusively. No more sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's bed!!! His pack n play is no longer in our room either, so we are sleeping much better as well. Next week we are going to move Lucas up to his room or at least start the transition.
Lucas now sits up when he takes a bath (holding on to the sides), he doesn't like leaning back. He is getting very close to sitting up by himself. It will only be a few more weeks. We also put up his outside swing this week, so now we have something to do when we are enjoying the summer weather.
He is eating one meal a day of solid foods. He loves it!! In fact he likes to help me feed him by grabbing my hand and guiding it into his mouth.
And last but not least, thanks to Uncle Nathan and Aunt Amber, Lucas has started playing his first musical instrument. They gave him his first set of drums!!! He loves them :)
My how time flies :)
