Field Trips

Over  the last month both boys have gone on class field trips.  Lucas and Andy went to TJ's Orchard, Pet Food Center, the Library, and had a picnic.  Lucas learned about pumpkins, apples, and how to make apple cider at the Orchard.  He learned about and got to pet animals, and he even got his picture taken with a white snake.  The librarian read the kids some stories and they finished their trip with a sack lunch.  I had to pack Andy and Lucas matching lunches and it was so cute.  Lucas had a great time and really enjoyed his Dad coming with him.

Adam and I went to Goebel's Farm.  We learned about pumpkins, gourds, cotton, wheat, and corn.  Adam got to play on a barn slide, straw tunnel, rope swings, corn maze, and even took a hay ride to the pumpkin patch.  He said his favorite part was the straw tunnel.  It was also his first bus ride which he thought was very cool.

We went to a local orchard and bought pumpkins this weekend.  I made the boys pose for some photos while we were there!

Fall Camping with Friends

We went camping with a big group of friends at the farm this weekend.  It was a blast!  We fished, hiked, rode ATVs, and generally enjoyed each other's company.  Lucas went on a one hour hike with Paps and came back with pockets filled with nature finds.  We got muddy a few times riding up to the cave, and I even drove a 4 wheeler and the rhino off road for the first times.  We are so blessed to have this great group of friends and to have a place where we can take in the beauty of nature.  Here are some of my favorite pictures.

September Birthdays

The end of September is filled with birthday's to celebrate!  Aunt Amber's came first, the Paps's (Tony) and the Papaw (Jim).  All in the same week.  We went to dinner to celebrate with Papaw Jim at his favorite restaurant, Log Inn.  We had a great time and the boys loved the fried chicken and rolls!

Since Tony turned the big 7-0, we spent the whole weekend celebrating with him on a big family camping trip up at the farm.  We went up on Saturday and fished with Paps, Grandma, Aunt Carrie, and Uncle Brandon.  Great Uncle Chuck came and joined us too!  Both Fisher families came to celebrate as well.  The kids loved spending time with Paps and Grandma and I think the feeling is mutual :)

We did some hiking, four wheeler riding, more fishing, fish frying, smore making, and enjoyed some stories by the fire. We caught enough fish to feed the whole clan! It was a wonderful day on Saturday.  The boys slept overnight in a tent with Daddy for the first time.  It got down to 48 degrees, so I expected them to get cold and come into the camper with me, but they made all night long.  On Sunday, the kids got to experience their first old farmhouse breakfast.  Andy and Sean cooked biscuits, eggs, sausage, and bacon on the wood fired stove and kids ate it all up.

We did some more hiking and riding on Sunday before we headed home.  The boys got to use their new four-wheeler helmets and we got to play in a little mud.  What a great way to celebrate with a great man doing all of his favorite things, with some of his favorite people, at one of his favorite places!
