Fun Day!

Today we had a great day! We made banana bread in the morning, played outside after lunch, and all 4 of us went to the zoo after naps. We got to see the Baby Zebra that was born early this morning. As always Lucas loved the zoo and just kept saying "More".

Throughout the day I also tried to take some photos of the boys together. Adam thought this was great fun. Every time I tried to get Lucas to hold Adam, Lucas would hold him for 10 secs then push him over. Then Adam would proceed to do a face plant in the floor. So later we tried to stand Adam up beside Lucas for a photo and Adam got Lucas' hair as revenge for the face plants and he thought it was the funniest thing. It was so cute and we got it on film. I added a slide show with the play by play.

5 months old

Adam is 5 months old today. He is a very good baby. He laughs and smiles all the time. He is babbling more and loves to watch his brother play. Adam is rolling over from his back to his belly on a regular basis now. We are starting to work on sitting up independently, but right now he likes to lean forward. He is a big guy and I'm not sure how much longer we are going to lug him around in that carseat.

Crane Party

It's hard to describe exactly what a Crane Party is, but I'll give it a try.

It's a party where you park a boom truck (truck with a crane) beside a lake. Then you park a truck or in this case a hummer nearby.

Next you grab on to a rope attached to the crane and climb up on the cab of the hummer...

then you run, jump, and swing out into the lake.

We attended a Crane Party at the Blankenberger's this weekend and we had a blast. Andy fried fish for everyone that was yummy. Lucas got to go swimming in the lake for the first time and played in the sand. He was surrounded by cute girls in bikinis wanting to play with him all afternoon. What a life! He put his head under the water several times and loved every minute of it. I had to drag him out of the water when his teeth were chattering because he was so cold.

Adam enjoyed people watching and sitting by the fire with Uncle Nathan.

Week of Firsts

Andy and I got each other a Granny Smith Apple tree for our 4th anniversary (the traditiona gift is fruit/flowers). This is the first year it has produced fruit. Lucas has enjoyed keeping an eye on the fruit trees this summer. Every time we went outside he had to walk back there to check them out and he would want to find all the "baby apples." He helped pick the apples and put them in the basket. For such a small tree, it produced quite a few.

Lucas kept wanting to eat the apples but I made him wait until we could bake them in a pie, and of course he was a big help with mixing up the pie. He found out he likes the taste of straight sugar. We had just enough for one very yummy pie.

Adam got his first taste of cereal this week. He was fussy a few nights in a row while we were eating, so we thought he might want to try eating like a big boy. He didn't care for it very much, but the messy face picture sure is cute. We are going to keep trying every couple of nights until he gets a little better with the spoon.

Adam also got to try his exersaucer this week for the first time, and he loves it. He is already turning in circles and playing the toys attached. Lucas loves to spin him around and play with the toys too. Adam is just growing up so fast. He is getting very curious so he loves to sit up where he can watch what is going one. We watched a Seasme Street video this weekend that Lucas liked when he was a baby and Adam cackled everytime Elmo came on and danced.

Lucas also sat on his potty for the first time this weekend. He said "Poop, potty." so we thought we should try. He didn't go but he sat there grunting and laughing at himself for quite a while. We'll see where it leads, but for now we are just letting him lead the way, but you gotta start somewhere.

Fun In the Sun

We took the boys swimming last weekend and they did great.
Lucas was kicking and blowing bubbles, but doesn't quite like laying back in the water yet. He had a great time playing ball with Grandpa Jim in the water and watching him pour water on his head with his hat.

Adam liked the water as well, but it took him a little while to get used to it. I think he was just as happy watching in Grandma Eileen's lap. Both boys did a great job keeping their hats and glasses on and I think they look pretty cute :)

Friends

On Friday, we had visits from several friends. It was Jamie's last Friday off, so she and Alayna came for a visit around lunch. Adam tried to put the moves on her and was very fascinated by her bow. Alayna seemed to like him too. Lucas wasn't sure what to think with 2 babies around.

That evening our neighbors, the Pugh's, came over for pizza. Jacob and Lucas love playing together and had gotten very dirty digging in the mulch before dinner. Eli and Adam enjoyed playing in the gym. At one point Adam had a fistful of Eli's thick hair and I caught Eli sucking on Adam's hand :) Oh the good times these boys will have as they get older.
