So Big

Today we took Lucas the doctor for a stubborn and irritating diaper rash. It has been 10 days since we have been there and Lucas has gained 21 oz. That puts him at 10 lbs 5 oz. He is getting so big. I see him every day and I'm amazed at how much he seems to be growing, so I can't imagine how different he looks to people who only see him on occasion.

Lucas is becoming more reactive. He now looks at things that I dangle over his head. We think he might have smiled at me today, but when we got the video camera out and tried to repeat he looked at us like we were crazy:) He is grabbing things around him: blankets, shirts, jewelry, etc. He is also very close to being able to hold his head up on his own, he looks a like a bobble-head doll now when he tries.

6 weeks old

Lucas is 6 weeks old today. He is spending the day with his Grandma Eileen, while I go shopping and to a doctor's appointment. It's his first full day away from Mommy. I think Lucas will be fine, I'm not so sure about me :)

A baby???

On Sunday we had lunch at Dad and Eileen's. Lucas got to meet his cousin Evan from Indy. Evan wasn't really sure what to do with a baby, but he will be figuring it out soon since he will have a new little brother or sister in the fall.

5 weeks old

Lucas is feeling much better and his breathing is also slower and easier. He has been in a good mood today and I was actually able to put him down for a little bit. Tomorrow he will be 5 weeks old. He weighed 9 pounds at the doctor's this week. I love this pic because not only are his eyes open, but he looks like he might just smile :)

Lucas Cold Update

Well, we went to the doctor today. Lucas has bronchiolitis (spelling??)) It's like bronchitis but it's in the smaller parts of the lungs. His breathing is somewhat labored so we are doing breathing treatments at home. We were tested for RSV and that was negative. So we are thankful for that. We are going to watch him closely for the next few days and hopefully his breathing will slow and become more relaxed. He has wanted to be held constantly and likes to be on his belly, as you can see Andy is pretty comfortable in this position as well.

Congrats to Ryan Newman!!

Although Lucas and I were pulling for Dale Jr. We are excited that Newman won the race, because Daddy knew Ryan when they were at Purdue together! Here's a pic of Lucas watching the race in the bean bag.

Daytona 500

Even though we're very grouchy and having a tough time fighting our first cold. Mommy had to get Lucas all fixed up in his Dale Jr. Nascar outfit in time to watch the Daytona 500 today. We had to cancel our party because he wasn't feeling well but we're still going to watch today as a family. Just probably won't be able to hear it very well over the coughing, sneezing, and crying.

Happy V-Day

4 weeks old

Lucas turned 4 weeks old on Wednesday. He weighed in at 8lbs 10 oz. which is 2 lbs over his birth weight. He is growing and changing way faster than I expected. His neck is getting much stronger and he is starting to actually react to me and Andy. He looks at us and seems to know we are here.

Unfortunately, Lucas also has his first cold. I was sick all last week and Lucas has been congested the past 2 days. I think he is already getting better, so hopefully the worst is over. He keeps sneezing, coughing, and gagging on snot. He also wants to be held a lot more than normal.

Also on Wednesday, Andy & I went out for our Valentine's Day. We had a very nice dinner and couple of hours away. Our anniversary gift to Grandma Kay and Grandpa Tony was that they got to baby sit at their house for the first time. Aunt Carrie came to help as well.

We finally got a chance to do a real first bath today. His cord just fell off this weekend so that's what we were waiting for. I'm not sure what Lucas thought about it. But he didn't complain. He just looks perplexed.

Cousins

Lucas got to meet two of his cousins from Indy this weekend. Isaac and Jacob got to hold Lucas for a few minutes. This was also Lucas's first visit to Grandma Eileen and Grandpa Jim's house :)

Superbowl

Here's the Family enjoying the Superbowl. I don't know how he could sleep through Uncle Nathan, Grandpa Tony and Me yelling at the screen so often. What a great game.

First Night Out

Saturday night was our first night with a Babysitter. The annual Mardi Gras Dance at the Knights home was that night. So Aunt Carrie and Jeremy got to babysit for the first time. I was pretty proud of us. Carrie and I were able to stay away for 4 hours and we only called to check on him twice.
