Spring Break 2014

To finish off our low key Spring Break we took an overnight trip to St. Louis.  We visited the Magic House, which is one of our favorite destinations. The boys love to pretend and play there.  We also ate at Pastaria and Lucas got to watch one of the chefs prep pizza doughs.  Then we made our first trip to the Science Center.  Lucas really enjoyed the Planetarium. Otherwise this museum was a little over their heads, but we had a good time!

Happy Birthday to Adam!

On Adam's actual birthday he got some special treats!  He got donuts for breakfast!

Andy and I took him to Red Lobster for the first time for his special dinner! He ate popcorn shrimp and broccoli.  He was acting like a alien with his crayons!

Inflatable Fun Factory Birthday Party

Adam had a great time celebrating his 5th birthday with his friends at Inflatable Fun Factory. 
They jumped and bounced until they were all sweaty.  Then they enjoyed some Kirby cupcakes and watching Adam open his gifts!  Adam really is blessed to have such wonderful friends!

Carrie's Trip to Vegas

I went to two conferences over 7 days in Vegas the first week of March.  It was my first time being away from the boys for 7 whole days and my first time traveling by myself.  I must admit I was homesick, but I took advantage of my time away to do some things for myself and enjoy some time away.

Throughout each day I was at conference sessions from about 8:30 AM until 5 PM.  Bill Clinton was the keynote speaker and I got to sit in the second to front row to see him. In the evenings there were some sponsored events and I did some site seeing.  I ate at some nice places but the nicest was Picasso.  This is a restaurant that literally is decorated with Picasso's.  I was expecting an expensive meal between $100 - $125.   This was the cheapest meal!  The others were in the $250 with out alcohol range. The food I had was fantastic, but not as good as what we get at Niche, in St. Louis.

One of the sponsored events was a dance party with zombies!  It was in a strip club and they were closed for the night, but the zombies danced up on the poles.  It was definitely a fun and unique experience.

My favorite sponsored event was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Microsoft rented the track for a concert and party.  I got to ride around the track at 90 MPH 3 times!  I also got to get my picture taken with Danica Patrick.  We were able to walk around the pits and garage area as well as visit a Ferrari museum.  It was all just awesome!

I went to the Celine Dion show and was transported back to college with all her hits.  She has a very powerful voice and took at stab at being funny, but I'm not sure she pulled it off.  I picked this show because I knew Andy would never go to it with me and I did enjoy myself.

I got to stay at the Venetian and my room was absolutely amazing.  My last day in Vegas I also treated myself to a massage and afternoon at the spa.  It was very relaxing and I snuggled up next to a sunny window and read my book while sipping cucumber water.  It was so nice to just lay and do nothing and it has been a long time since I've done that.

All in all it was a great trip.  I learned a lot at the conferences and enjoyed some alone time even thought I missed all three of my boys immensely!
