Christmas Preparations

We have been preparing for Christmas and the boys couldn't be any more excited. We wrote our letters to Santa and he replied with a video for each of the boys letting them know they made the nice list.  Lucas is asking for an Easy Bake Oven and the Imaginext Sponge Bob set.  Adam is asking for a voice command Switch N Go Dino and Star Wars Legos.  The boys each had Christmas parties at school and Lucas got to have  Polar Express party, too!

Christmas Break started the boys got crazy in the van!  We headed straight to Rural King to finish our Christmas shopping and the boys gave some money to the bell ringer.  We ate our popcorn finished our shopping and headed home to start wrapping. 

Lucas is a giver and he has made everyone in his family a drawing and wrapped it up.  He is drawing things that each person loves.  (In many cases the drawing is of him and Adam.)  I look at what he is doing and I'm overwhelmed with pride.  Not only is he more excited to give gifts than he is to get them, but he knows he is loved and that's why he is drawing himself and that is truly a gift. Lucas has been writing out all of the gift tags this year, which is great practice for his spelling and writing skills, so that's a bonus too!

Lucas also gets very excited about hosting Christmas Eve dinner.  This year he set the table and got out all the place cards, Grandma Carolyn's silver, and the Christmas Dishes.  He can't wait to make his famous Christmas Lemonade and have our Christmas Feast!

Adam did draw a few pictures and he is giving away some of the crafts he made at school.  He got to cut the wrapping paper for his gift to Lucas.  Adam is all about family and everyone being together.  He wanted to make a family sleigh cookie.  He rolled out all the dough and cut the cookies.  He instructed me on how to put the whole thing together to bake and which names to put on which pieces.  He gave Grandma the sleigh, but she is the best of all he said.  He made a cookie for Grandma Patty, because he wanted to make sure my Mom got one.  He is very aware that my Mom isn't here and never wants me to feel that she is left out.  He asked if Grandma Patty would be able to eat hers and it was just too sweet! 

The boys have huge hearts and this time of year it really shows.  I asked the boys the other day what the most important part of Christmas was.  Lucas answered, "giving"!  Adam answered, "Believing"!  I had to ask believing in what?  He replied, "Jesus"!  They have asked me to sing Away in a Manager and Silent Night every night in December before bed.  They are ready for Santa and Christmas gathering and Jesus's Birthday!
