Lucas is 5!

Today is a big day for Lucas!  It's his 5th birthday!  Lucas has grown so much the past year.  We started the year still reeling from the moodiness and tantrums that come with being three, but quickly Lucas grew out of this and has gained control of his emotions (well 80% of the time).  His personality is really shining through.  He loves to tease us and play, by mooning us or tickling us.  He likes to toot in our face and say 'Can you smell that perfume?"  He is such a boy!

Lucas has been showing his sweet side lately too.  He tells us how much he loves his family and how much he loves doing activities with us.  He doesn't stop to tell you he is having fun and thank you, instead he will just stop in the middle of something and say 'I love you'.  He comes home with items from the prize box that he gives to Adam and daily has a craft that he made just for Andy or me to show us how much he loves us.

Lucas gets very excited when he gets to do something special like sleepovers, restaurants, parties, etc.  He will talk about it every second and plan it all out in his head.  He likes to know what to expect, but loves to be surprised.

His memory continues to amaze us.  He remembers details of things from years ago and can watch a movie just one time and have it all memorized.   He loves routine, so if you do something with Lucas this way the first time you better be prepared to do it that same way the next time or he will let you know.

His favorite activities continue to be either computer games, iPad games, or video games.  He also loves cooking and doing anything with his dad.  Lucas has become quite the helper.  He asks to help us make dinner almost every night.  He helps pick up and do laundry on a regular basis as well.

Lucas is enjoying his time at school more this year and is really starting to make some progress on his writing.  He has made several friends and talks about playing with specific kids more.  He walks himself to his class each morning and is already all settled by the time I get up there to check on him. We will be signing him up for Kindergarten in just a few weeks.

He had a special day today that started off with donuts at Donut Bank for breakfast.  Then he went to school, where he got to be the leader and during circle time he got to pick out a rock.  Then all the kids in his class thought up a wish for him and squeezed it into the rock.  He got to bring the rock home with all the wishes inside. He also got to share birthday cookies with all his classmates.

After school we let Lucas open his present from us and he loves his new telescope.  It was too cloudy tonight but he can't wait to look at the moon.  He was treated to a special dinner at Nagasaki with just Mommy and Daddy.  He was very polite and complemented the chef on his talents many times.  When asked what the favorite part of his birthday was, he just kept saying everything.

We love this sweet boy and can't believe he is five.  We are very proud of the boy he is growing up to be.  We love you Lucas!
